Rose Volunteers presenting Gift Cards

December 14, 2023. Jackie Fleming (right) of Rose Volunteers presented $3,000 of grocery gift cards to Linda Curley, Executive Director of BBNC. Jackie also donated toiletries & toques for their Share 365 program.  The toques were added to their Christmas giving tree.  Each day, the giving trees is stripped down to make way for new donations from BBNC members & the community.

April 27, 2023. Jackie Fleming of Rose Volunteers presented grocery gift cards to Linda Curley, Executive Director of BBNC. Food insecurity has become a problem in Southwest Scarborough & Linda was delighted to get this unexpected donation of $2500 in PC gift cards. Linda will distribute them to needy families & seniors in the Southwest Scarborough area through the Share 365 program.

December 2022. Jackie Fleming of Rose Volunteers presents donation to Linda Curley, the BBNC Executive Director. In the background is a “Giving Tree” which is an artificial Christmas tree decorated with hats, scarves, mitts & gloves donated by BBNC members. They are collected every few days & added to the Share 365 Christmas program for needy families in Southwest Scarborough.

The Rose Volunteers have supported BBNC, formally known as Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre, & supplied the Share 365 program & it’s predecessor for many years.  It is now known as  ‘Poverty Relief/Reduction Program SHARE 365’. It began in 2015 replacing the previous “Share Christmas Adopt A Family” program.

Currently helping over 700 people including 250 families & individuals living in poverty in Southwest Scarborough. These would include new immigrants, single parents, older adults & the disabled.

Items needed:

  • Personal Hygiene such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body soap, razors, shave cream/gel, deodorant, brushes, combs, feminine hygiene products, infant diapers.
  • Household Cleaning Product such as dish soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener, garbage bags, window cleaner, vinegar, baking soda, paper towels, sponges, new cleaning rags.
  • Non Perishable food or food vouchers/gift cards, socks, books & toys.

From May to September, there is a “Back To School” component of the program which collects backpacks, lunch boxes, pens, pencils, markers, rulers, scissors, glue sticks, paper & writing pads.

Sponsors are always needed & cash/cheque or gift card donations are gratefully accepted.
